Change is hard. You don’t have tonavigate it alone.
When the ground shifts beneath you, therapy helps you find your footing again. Culturally rooted. Evidence-based. Built for you.
Life transitions are disorienting by design.
Whether a change was chosen or forced upon you, it disrupts the story you had for yourself. That disorientation is not weakness — it is a deeply human response to loss, uncertainty, and the work of becoming something new.
At SHIFT Your Journey®, we meet you in that in-between space with evidence-based therapy delivered through a cultural lens that honors who you are and where you’ve come from.
Stuck, purposeless, or overwhelmed by job loss, a promotion, or a professional pivot

Grieving the end of a marriage, partnership, or friendship that once defined you
Processing loss, navigating change, and reconnecting with your sense of self
Questioning who you are after a major role, status, or life shift

You’ve probably sat in a room — or on a screen — and felt like the therapy wasn’t made for someone like you. At SHIFT, every method we use is delivered through the lens of your culture, your history, and the life you are actually living.
Healing is both personal and cultural. Therapy isn’t just about coping — it’s about breaking cycles and building emotional wealth for you and generations to come.

-
Do you accept insurance for life transition therapy?
Yes. We accept 1199SEIU, Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Cigna, Healthfirst, Molina, Oscar, Oxford, and UnitedHealthcare. Insurance coverage varies by state and plan. Contact us to confirm your specific benefits before your first session.
-
What is the difference between a life transition and Adjustment Disorder?
“Life transition” is not a clinical diagnosis on its own. When transition-related stress causes significant functional impairment lasting longer than expected, it may meet criteria for Adjustment Disorder. Our licensed clinicians complete careful assessments and coordinate with medical providers when appropriate.
-
What if my first therapist is not the right fit?
This is exactly why we built the Therapeutic Fit™ process. If the first match is not working, your Client Care team finds you another therapist — without you needing to re-explain your entire story from scratch.
-
Do I need a diagnosis to access therapy for a life transition?
You do not need to arrive with a diagnosis. If you are paying out of pocket, no diagnosis is required at any point. If you are using insurance, your clinician will conduct a thorough assessment during your intake and may assign a clinical diagnosis — such as Adjustment Disorder — if it is clinically appropriate. This is standard practice and very common for life transitions. What matters is that you don’t have to figure that out before reaching out. We guide you through the process from the very first appointment.
-
Do you offer sessions in languages other than English?
Yes. Sessions are available in English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Twi, Ga, Haitian Kreyòl, and Portuguese. Healing is often deeper when you can process change in the language that feels most natural to you.
-
How quickly can I be seen?
Our team moves quickly. After completing your request form, our Client Care team will reach out to match you with a therapist. Most clients are scheduled within a week of submitting. Contact us at [email protected] or call 914-221-3200.
You don’t have to keep carrying this alone.
What you’re feeling right now — the heaviness, the confusion, the sense that you should be further along — is exactly what therapy is for. We have appointments available as early as next week. You don’t have to carry this alone. SHIFT Your Journey® is here when you’re ready.
