Vanessa Campbell, M.A., MHC-LP

Therapist

OFFICE LOCATION : NEW YORK

Hello, I'm Vanessa Campbell, and my journey through life has taken me from the vibrant community of Queens, NY, to the world of psychology. Unlike a conscious choice, I often say that psychology found me during my high school years. It was my own life experiences during that time that ignited a profound passion for guiding others along their unique mental health journeys.

Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with individuals spanning a wide age range, from 6-year-olds to those well into their 50s and beyond. These individuals have entrusted me with a diverse array of concerns, including anxiety, depression, OCD, BPD, autism, self-esteem challenges, and the intricate process of self-identity development.

In my clinical practice, I've embraced an integrative approach, drawing from a rich tapestry of therapeutic theories. At its core, my approach is firmly rooted in person-centered principles, providing a foundation of empathy, understanding, and collaboration. I weave in elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for practical skill-building, utilize solution-focused techniques to set and achieve goals, employ motivational interviewing to inspire positive change, and incorporate dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills to navigate emotional complexities.

My academic journey has been a quest for knowledge and growth. I hold a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Hofstra University, a testament to my commitment to acquiring the expertise needed to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. My Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Buffalo State University, complemented by my background in sociology and Art Therapy, has deepened my understanding of the intricacies of the human experience.

As I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to meet you, I want you to know that I'm here to support you on your personal journey toward improved mental health and well-being. Together, we can explore your goals, challenges, and strengths as we work collaboratively to achieve positive and sustainable change.
