Meet Ively
Ively S. Abreu, MHC-LP
Bilingual Therapist (Spanish + English)
OFFICE LOCATION : NEW YORK
You Deserve a Space to Be Seen and Heard
Welcome to a space designed for honesty, reflection, and growth. My name is Ively, and I believe that therapy should meet you where you are, with compassion, curiosity, and cultural understanding. Whether you’re working through trauma, anxiety, family stress, or identity challenges, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and empowered to heal.
At SHIFT Your Journey™, I believe therapy is a collaborative process, built on trust, empathy, and respect for your story. Together, we’ll explore your experiences, uncover patterns, and strengthen the connection between your mind, body, and emotions so you can move toward greater clarity and balance.
My Path to Counseling
My journey into mental health work began with a passion for supporting individuals and families navigating complex emotional, social, and cultural challenges. Over the past seven years, I have worked across diverse settings including medical social work, case management, crisis intervention, and individual and group counseling, providing care for people facing trauma, grief, and life transitions.
I have had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, and adults from various backgrounds, helping them build resilience, process emotions, and develop healthy coping strategies. My experience with court-mandated clients, individuals struggling with substance use, and families seeking caregiver support has deepened my understanding of how environment, culture, and community shape well-being. These experiences continue to ground my commitment to providing therapy that is compassionate, responsive, and culturally affirming.
My Approach to Therapy
My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and person-centered, integrating several evidence-based modalities, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Helping you recognize and reframe unhelpful thought patterns
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – Supporting emotional flexibility and alignment with personal values
Interpersonal and Behavioral Therapy – Enhancing relationships, communication, and coping skills
Mindfulness-Based and Somatic Strategies – Encouraging presence, self-awareness, and mind-body connection
Trauma-Informed Care – Addressing relational, generational, and postpartum trauma with safety and compassion
When working with children and adolescents, I often integrate art and play therapy techniques that make emotional expression and learning more natural and engaging. I also collaborate closely with parents and families to strengthen understanding and communication at home.
Each session reflects the values of The SHIFT Approach™ — integrating evidence-based practice, cultural formulation, and generational emotional wealth building to foster sustainable transformation and healing.

At the Heart of My Work
Healing begins when we feel seen, valued, and accepted. My goal is to walk alongside you, not ahead of you, as you process your story and rediscover your strength. Therapy is not about “fixing” who you are; it’s about reconnecting with the parts of you that are ready to grow, heal, and thrive.
You don’t have to do this alone. Together, we’ll SHIFT your journey toward deeper peace, clarity, and self-discovery.
Take the First Step
Your story matters — and your healing is possible.
Let’s begin this journey together.
