Hi, I’m Arlene Paez, a dedicated and compassionate therapist. My work is grounded in the belief that healing involves the mind, body, and spirit, and that every person deserves to feel seen, understood, and supported. At SHIFT Your Journey™, I’m committed to helping clients reconnect with their whole selves, deepen self-awareness, and cultivate balance in all areas of life.
My Path to Counseling
My professional journey began in the Bronx, NY, where I worked as a case manager supporting migrant children and families through advocacy, care coordination, and emotional support. I later transitioned into higher education, helping college students navigate academic, emotional, and life challenges.
These experiences shaped my belief that healing and growth are possible when people are met with compassion, cultural understanding, and genuine care. They also deepened my passion for supporting adolescents and adults as they move through life transitions, rediscover balance, and strengthen their sense of self.
My Approach to Therapy
My therapeutic approach is integrative and mind-body oriented, recognizing that healing occurs when we explore the deep connection between our thoughts, emotions, and physical experiences. I tailor my work to meet each client’s unique needs, drawing from a range of evidence-based and holistic modalities, including:
Polyvagal Therapy – Helping clients understand and regulate how their nervous system responds to stress and trauma
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Identifying and reframing unhelpful thoughts to foster healthier patterns
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – Teaching mindfulness, emotional regulation, and effective communication skills
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – Encouraging acceptance of difficult emotions while living in alignment with core values
Mindfulness-Based Practices – Promoting present-moment awareness, calm, and self-compassion
Strengths-Based Therapy – Empowering clients to build upon their resilience, strengths, and inner wisdom
Each session reflects the principles of The SHIFT Approach™, which blends evidence-based care, cultural formulation, and generational emotional wealth building to support holistic, transformative healing.
